Investigate & Apply

• Why were some of the people so discouraged with the new temple (v 3 cf. Ezra 3)? What things do churches get discouraged about today that ends up stopping ministry?

• How does God encourage his people in verses 4 and 5?

• How do we encourage ourselves to continue being faithful in service to God when we are discouraged? When it seems like no one cares or appreciates our efforts?

• The people doubted what God could accomplish through this new temple. How does God answer them in verse 9 what does that mean for us and our work for the Lord?
