Begin with a prayer asking God for help in understanding and applying His Word to your life. Then read the passage from Galatians 5:25-6:10.
Investigate
- Why does being conceited produce “provoking” and “envying” (v 26)?
- Paul has told Christians to “keep in step with the Spirit (v 25). How will doing so make us both humble and bold? How will doing so remove conceit?
- Instead of the Galatians seeking self-worth in relationships with other Christians, what does Paul tell them to do? Give an answer for each of the following: verse 1, verse 2, verses 3-4, verse 5, verse 6.
- What is the principle of verses 7 and 8?
- What are we encouraged to do in verses 9 and 10? What motivations and priorities do we have for doing this?
Apply
- How do we overcome conceit in our everyday lives? How does the Gospel help?
- Looking back at verses 1 through 6, which of these things is our congregation good at?
- Which of these could we do better?
- How could you as an individual make a difference?
- How should verses 7 through 10 change our perspective and the way we live our everyday lives?
Discipleship is the process of growing in love for Jesus and His Church over the course of a lifetime demonstrated through obedience, perseverance, and submission.
